How was your weekend?
I spent the weekend at my new job. I'm kinda excited about the job, but at the same time I'm kinda bummed. I've had to take this job for some extra income, because my photography has been really affected by the economy. Now I have done okay and have managed to stick it out and I can only hope it will get better, but in the mean time I've had to take on another job. The new job is in retail and is part time seasonal which could turn into part time year round. Now anyone who knows retail the weekends are the busiest times of the week. When I interviewed for this position I did tell them that I do art shows mostly in August and September (my busiest months). Yesterday I found out that taking that many weekends off (6 out of 8) could cause a problem if I want to either come back next year for seasonal or to get year round part time. On the way home from work yesterday I kept mulling over what to do. All the different scenarios. I have to say the decision I made was a tough one, but most logically one. I had to think with my head and not my heart. This year I will cancel a couple of shows and see what develops with the new job. If I find that the new job is something I like and will take me on as a regular year round part timer, I will then choose to do only a few shows next year and work my online sales. There is alot more to this, but this is the jest of why I took on a part time job. The one thing I have to remember is that I'm still doing what I love and the only thing that is different is I'm not doing as many art shows.

So with that said here is a new/old photograph. This is one that I've had in the archives for quite a while and finally was able to edit it the way I like it. I used Color Efex and a textured layer to get this finished photo.
Quote of the Day..............
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

Good luck in the job - hopefully, the photography makes a turn and the second job won't be necessary, but we all do what we have to! Nice image too - looks warm!
